Every still we sell is copper, made by hand in a family shop in New Hampshire. Running one is part alchemy and part science. You start with a liquid, add heat, and watch copper turn vapor back into liquid one drop at a time. You decide how much heat to use, when to make your cuts, and what to change on the next run. The still is your lab. We build it, and the experiments are yours.

We make four kinds of copper stills. The right one depends on how much building you want to do, how you want to heat it, and how big a batch you plan to run.

• Complete units: assembled copper stills. The smallest is the Durable Craft Distillation Unit, from $329. Next is the 6 Gallon Complete Copper Moonshine Still with Thumper and Worm, from $699. Above those are Advanced Models in 10, 15, 25, and 30 gallons, a 20 Gallon Complete Craft Distillation Unit, and the 50 Gallon Advanced Model with a 10 gallon thumper and a 10 gallon worm, from $1900. The largest is the Massive Craft Distillation Unit, from $2699.
• EZ Kits you solder yourself: for people who want to know every seam in their still. We offer Advanced Model kits in 2, 15, 20, and 30 gallons, each with the EZ Seal Cap and a thumper port (3 inch on the 2 gallon, 4 inch on the rest). Prices start at $379. For bigger projects there are 60 and 100 gallon EZ Kits, plus the EZ Kit Bare from $249.
• Electric stills: the 6 Gallon Advanced Model runs on 110V and starts at $999. The 220V Advanced Models come in 10, 15, and 20 gallons.
• FlameFlow™ stills: our patented FlameFlow line comes in 6 gallon, Brilliant 10 gallon, and 30 gallon sizes, starting at $1199.

Why copper is worth it

Copper has been the distiller's metal for centuries. It moves heat well, and it reacts with sulfur compounds in the vapor. It also looks great on a workbench. Building it by hand means real people shape and join the metal and check the work before it leaves the shop.

The legal part, plainly

Owning a still is legal in the United States. Many people use copper stills to distill water and make essential oils. Distilling alcohol is different. Making spirits requires federal permits from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), and fuel alcohol needs its own federal permit. Get the right permits before you distill any alcohol, and follow federal, state, and local law.

What's the difference between a complete unit and an EZ Kit?

A complete unit arrives as an assembled copper still. An EZ Kit is a you-solder kit, so you do the soldering and assembly yourself. Kits cost less than a complete still of the same size, and you get to know your equipment seam by seam.

Which electric still should I choose, 110V or 220V?

The 6 Gallon Advanced Model runs on 110V. The 10, 15, and 20 gallon electric Advanced Models run on 220V. Pick the voltage your workspace can supply. If you're not sure, ask an electrician before you buy.
